JACKSON, Tenn. – In a women's match that was played cleanly throughout, Union University and the University of North Alabama tied 2-2 Wednesday on the pitch at the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Union moved to 2-1-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the Gulf South Conference. North Alabama is now 3-4-1, 1-1-1 GSC.
The North Alabama Lions struck early when Melanie Leonida netted a goal from 20 yards out in the third minute of play. Union peppered the frame with 10 first half shots. North Alabama managed to maintain the 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Kelsey Wilkes had the equalizer for Union at 83:51, when she sent a laser in from the top of the 18-yard box, off a feed from
Madison Purdy.
Waggoner made three saves, each in the second half. Rachel Beninati of North Alabama stopped nine Union shots, seven after halftime.
Union took 23 shots in the match, though only three combined in the overtime periods. North Alabama recorded 18 shots with seven during the extra sessions. UNA had nine corner kicks, while Union took six.
Up next for Union will be a home non-conference match October 1 at 3:30 p.m. versus Asbury (Ky.).
