MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Union University women's basketball team earned a 69-45 win at Christian Brothers University Saturday at Canale Arena. Union improved to 8-4 on the season and 3-1 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers dropped to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Amber Rechis matched her career-high of 24 points in the win, including 16 points in the second half.
After Christian Brothers led 2-0 and again 4-3, Union posted a 14-6 run to take a 17-10 lead with 9:07 left in the half. That was the largest lead for Union in the first half. Christian Brothers tied the game three times in the first half, including the final time at 18-18 with 5:56 left. However, Union never lost the lead.
Union answered the final Christian Brothers run of the half to take a 30-24 lead into the break.
In the second half, Union opened with a 7-0 run to lead 37-24 with 15:33 left. Union maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the game. Union extended their lead to as many as 17 points three times in the second half, including the 65-48 final.
After making just 3-of-17 3-pointers in the first half, Union was a more efficient 4-of-9 from long range in the second half. This was the first time this season that Union earned a victory when making less than 10 3-pointers in a game. Union is now 1-4 when making less than 10 3-pointers, and 7-0 when making 10 or more from long range.
Union was led by Rechis' 24 points, including two three pointers.
Shelby Ashcraft followed her season-high 19 points last game with a 13 point and eight rebound performance.
Amy Philamlee added 12 points, including two 3-ponters, while Kelsey Riser sank two 3-pointers for six points.
LaTesa McLaughlin led Union with 10 rebounds and six assists from the guard position. Union shot 40 percent from the field, 27 percent (7-26) from 3-point range, and 62 percent (16-26) from the free throw line.
Christian Brothers played 11 players with nine players finding the scoring column. Jessica Green led all Lady Bucs with nine points off the bench. Adrienne McKay and Breanna Ridgell added seven points each. The Lady Bucs shot 35 percent from the field, 33 percent (5-15) from long range, and 58 percent t(7-12) form the free throw line.
