JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men's basketball team posted a 101-69 win over Champion Baptist (Ark.) College Tuesday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Union improved to 2-5 on the season, snapping a five game losing skid. Champion Baptist dropped to 3-12 overall.
Union scored first on a basket from 
Anthony Freeman, the first two of his team-high 20 points. It was the third time this season for Freeman to score 20 points in seven games.
Champion Baptist tied the game with a shot from DJ Schnell. Union took the lead for good with another basked from Freeman. Union went on a 12-0 run to jump the lead to double figures. A three pointer from Brandon Likins with 6:20 left in the half cut the Union lead down to just five points, 27-22. Likins finished with a game-high 36 points, including five three pointers.
However it was Union responding with a 23-6 run over the final six minutes of the half to take a 50-28 lead at the break.
Union led by as many as 34 in the game and cruised to the 101-69 win.
Six Union players scored in double figures led by Freeman's 20 points and 11 rebounds. 
Corieon Pearson, Gio Koguashvilli, and 
Paul Valdor each scored 15 points. 
Roy Bullock added 13 points and Dani Marti scored 10 points. 
Eric Leisey grabbed 10 rebounds. All 10 players for Union played, with nine reaching the scoring column. Union shot 58 percent from the field, 39 percent (10-26) from long range, and 50 percent (7-14) from the free throw line.
Champion Baptist was led by Likins with his 36 points on a 30 points per game average. Mo Capaci added 18 points. The Tigers shot 40 percent from the field, 29 percent (8-28) from behind the arc, and 75 percent (15-20) from the free throw line.
Up next for Union will be another home game, Saturday, December 8 at 4:00 p.m. versus William Carey (Miss.) University.
