Box Score

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men's basketball team suffered a second straight loss decided in the final seconds. Union fell 63-60 at home to Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Union dropped to 1-3 on the season, while Southeastern improved to 4-0.

Union had the ball for the final shot trailing by three points when a 3-point attempt by Corieon Pearson rimmed in-and-out as the buzzer went off. Union also lost on a 3-point play with six seconds left last Saturday on the road at Henderson State (Ark.) 81-79.

Union came up just short of getting even in the season series with Southeastern as the Bulldogs fell in Durant, Okla. last week 83-71.

Union led twice in the first half by one point and worked a tie at 19-19. However, Southeastern managed to push the lead up to nine points, 35-26 in the final minute of the first half. The nine point lead was the largest of the game. The Savage Storm settled for a 35-28 halftime lead.

In the second half, Union kept the game close and with 10:40 left to play, Union trailed by five points, 49-44. However, Union's Pedro Faller drained back-to-back three pointers to give Union the 50-49 lead, their first since early in the first half. Union led again by one point, 51-50, but could not hold the lead. Southeastern regained the lead for good, and led by six points with two minutes left. But Union was not done. A 3-point play by Anthony Freeman cut the Union deficit to just three points, 63-60 with less than two minutes left. Neither team was able to score in the final 1:59. A missed front end of a one-and-one by Southeastern with 15 seconds left gave Union one final shot at the tie.

Union was led by Pedro Faller with 15 points, all coming on his five 3-pointers. Anthony Freeman added 12 points. Dani Marti grabbed 12 rebounds and Roy Bullock led with eight assists. Union shot 37 percent from the field, 32 percent (8-25) from long range, and 75 percent (6-8) from the free throw line.
