Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Union University women's soccer team defeated Bluefield College 2-0 in their first game in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Region Tournament. Union went into the tournament as the five seed while Bluefield was the number four seed. The win for Union improved their record 8-9-2 on the season.
The Lady Bulldogs scored their first goal just four minutes into the game.
Rachael Boswell recorded the goal and
Stefanie King earned the assist off of a corner kick, giving Union the early 1-0 lead.
Union's next goal came in the second half.
Dionna Linn scored at the 86
th minute to give Union the 2-0 lead.
Boswell's goal was her first of the season. King's assist gave her the team high with four assists. Linn's goal gave her eight on the season, extending her team best. Emily Warren earned her fifth shutout of the season, recording two saves in the match.
Union's next match will be against top-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) University for the next round of region play. The match will be played in Campbellsville, Ky. on November 16 at 3:00 p.m. central time.
