Lauren Ruther

Lauren Ruther begins her first season with Union University as the assistant volleyball coach. Ruther is from Channahon, Ill. and is a 2011 graduate of Spring Arbor (Mich.) University. She has a bachelor’s degree in language arts/elementary education.

While at Spring Arbor, Ruther played volleyball as an outside/right side hitter. She also played volleyball for several club teams including Sports Performance Red 16, Sports Performance Royal 18, CYC Club 15, CYC Club 18 and UNO 18.

Ruther graduated from Minooka (Ill.) High School in 2007 where she played outside hitter for the volleyball team. During her career, Ruther earned numerous awards including Side Out USA All-Tournament, Christian Spirit Award, Rex Siron Award for Most Outstanding Female Student Athlete, first team all-area, first team all-conference, Dale Vanderheyden Inspirational Athlete Award, varsity team captain, Coaches Award and was a scholar athlete all four years.

Ruther is a member of the English Honors Society and has two teaching certifications, including Michigan Elementary Education (K-5) and Language Arts Certification (6-8).

Ruther is the daughter of John and Kristin Ruther.
