Dr. Jonathan Allen, a native of Indiana, began his tenure at Union University in the fall of 2012 as an assistant professor in the professional athletic training program. Over the past decade, he has served as clinical coordinator and, most recently, program director for Union’s undergraduate athletic training program. In July 2025, he was appointed head athletic trainer for the university’s 11 varsity sports. Dr. Allen also serves as an adjunct professor in exercise science and has previously worked as the athletic trainer for the men’s basketball team. He has been a Certified Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification since 2005.
Prior to joining Union, Dr. Allen served as director of rehabilitation at Fayette Regional Health System in Connersville, Indiana, from 2009 to 2012. His responsibilities included overseeing both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation clinics and athletic training services for two large area high schools.
Dr. Allen holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (UT), earned in 2024. He also holds a Master of Arts in Sport Administration (2006) and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (2003), both from Ball State University.
Dr. Allen has been married to his wife, Crystal, since August 2005. Together, they have seven children: Graiden, Brynlee, Jovie, Alexia, Everleigh, Archer, and Everett.
