JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's basketball has earned a trip to the 2026 NCAA D2 Women's Basketball National Tournament. This year will be the 11th trip to the nationals in the 12 years since Union transitioned to NCAA in 2014-15. Union will be the 2-seed in the south region and will begin play Friday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. versus 7-seed Florida Southern College. All south region games will be played at top-seed and host UAH in Huntsville, Ala.
Union knocked of the Gulf South Conference regular season champion, UAH, Sunday afternoon, in the GSC Title game, 65-63. The win came when
Aryn Roberts hit a game-winning jumper as time expired. It was the eighth GSC Tournament title, sixth in the last seven years, and second in a row. It was also Union's 33rd conference tournament title in program history.
The Lady Bulldogs are riding a 7-game winning streak currently, its longest winning streak of the season.Â

For Union, this is the 11th year in the NCAA D2 Nationals. Union was the 1-seed last season and hosted the regional in Jackson. Union won the region title and advanced to the national semifinals, matching its best NCAA finish in program history. In the 11 years, Union is 12-7 overall in regional tournaments, winning titles in 2018 and 2025. Union has been a 2-seed four times now, going 0-2 as the 2-seed. In 2019, Union lost to 7-seed Nova Southeastern, 71-66, at Florida Southern. In 2020, Union was the 2-seed at host Lee University, but never played the region as COVID canceled NCAA postseason. In 2024, Union lost to 7-seed Eckerd 84-70 at Valdosta State.Â
Ironically, Union and Florida Southern have never met, despite playing in the same region and in several regional tournaments together over the years. Florida Southern and Union have both hosted, with each other participating, but have never faced off head-to-head.Â
