Union University women’s soccer ranked fourth in GSC preseason poll, Arias and Revuelto named to All-GSC Team

JACKSON, Tenn. – As classes return to session, Union women's soccer returns to the pitch to prepare for the 2025 season. Upon return, the lady bulldogs were placed 4th in the GSC preseason poll, the highest Union has ever sat.

Last season, Union broke program records and made history. For the first time since joining the NCAA, Union hosted a post season game again Delta State University. Following GSC tournament play, the lady bulldogs also earned a berth into the NCAA National Championship Tournament for the first time in program history.

In addition to the rankings, two lady bulldogs were selected for the 2025 Preseason All-GSC Team. Irene Arias and Lucia Revuelto were named to the roster.

The two Spaniards made their mark in the GSC last season, being influential forces in Union's success.

Arias received many post season accolades in the 2024 season including being named to the Second Team All-GSC, United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region, CSC Academic All-District Honors, and the D2CCA Second Team All-Region.

Revuelto found her stride last season, earning GSC-second in assists. She was also featured on the GSC All-Tournament list, Second Team All-GSC, and to the United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region.

The lady bulldogs are led by Josh Alford who enters his 4th season as head coach. He is assisted by Claire Maxon, a previous player/captain promoted to graduate assistant for her first season on staff. Chris Baker also joined the staff for his 3rd season as assistant coach and goalkeeper coach.

Alford says the squad is "growing and figuring it out. We're always looking to shoot for more."

The roster features 23 returners and 7 newcomers.

Among returners, senior Joslyn Greene and graduate student Ella Neely look to finalize their collegiate season in strong fashion, bringing leadership, experience, and consistency to the lineup.

Notable newcomers include freshmen Chloe Roberts and Laurel Butt. The frosh bulldogs join the squad in hopes to make their mark on the program and continue the current success of the lady bulldogs.

Fans can look forward to seeing the lady bulldogs in action free of charge thanks to the generosity of FirstBank.

Union will begin regular season play with Carson Newman University (9/4 2:00pm) then conference play begins on September 21st with a road trip to Christian Brothers University.
