Union University men’s soccer preparations begin for the 2025 season, Bowen returns

Ostian Bowen returns to Union for senior season
JACKSON, Tenn. – Union Bulldogs have returned to campus to ready for the fall season.

Once again, the bulldogs are led by Steven Cox, who is stepping into his 9th year as a head coach. Christian Young and Chris Baker stand by Cox's as they both enter their 3rd season with the bulldogs. 

The 2025 roster features 16 returners, 11 newcomers, and 1 homecoming. The homecoming in question is Ostian Bowen.

Bowen started his collegiate career in 2022 where he would play two seasons at Union before transferring to Tiffin University. During his time as a bulldog, Bowen accumulated 22 goals and 11 assists before his transfer to Tiffin. In his frosh semester, he was named GSC Freshman of the Week and GSC Player of the Week. He was also named to the CSC Academic All-District in 2023.

Among returners, Tommy Scahill and Finn Jacobs look to cap off their collegiate career in style.

Notable newcomers include transfers Lawson Harvey and James Starkey. Harvey comes from Jones College where he was named to the Distinguished Academic All-MACCC and NJCAA All-Academic Second Team. Starkey comes to Union from close by Bethel University. Originally from Reading, England, Starkey joins the bulldogs for the 2025 season.

Following the 2024 season, Union has been given the 12th position in the GSC preseason coaches' poll with West Florida being named 1st for the second year in a row.

Fans can look forward to seeing the bulldogs in action free of charge thanks to the generosity of FirstBank.

Union will begin regular season play with Ouachita Baptist University (9/4 7:30pm) then conference play begins on September 21st with a road trip to Christian Brothers University.
