Campbell, Westmoreland, and Robinson finished under par

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Union University men's golf team posted a 16-stroke victory in the Music City Invitational on Tuesday with a 10-under finish, well ahead of second-place Cumberland (+6) and Delta State (+12), the next-best among five GSC squads.

Gray Campbell (3rd, -5) and Andrew Westmoreland (T-4th, -4) paced the Bulldogs and were named to the all-tournament team. Both were among six golfers tied for the field's most birdies, 13.

The win is Union's first since 2023, when the Bulldogs claimed the Matt Dyas Invitational by two strokes over Delta State on October 23-24. Union finished second in the Full Moon BBQ Invitational, this season's opener.

Union completed Monday's opening round +5 on the par-70 Hermitage Golf Course and finished the session in third. The team improved one spot in the middle round by way of a five-under composite before shooting a -10 third round, the single best round of the event, and claiming the top position.

Trace Robinson (8th, -2), Timothy Pinkston (15th, +1), and Caleb Clifft (87th, +24) contributed the other countable efforts for Union. Playing as individuals, Kip Patterson carded a +15 week, finishing in 71st, and Jack-Henry Wise shot an 83rd-place +21.

Union led the field in scoring on both threes (3.15) and fours (4.04) while pacing the 17-squad event with 48 birdies. Union was blemished with the second-fewest bogeys, 46.

Several Bulldogs placed highly in the tournament's statistical columns, including Campbell, who finished T-3rd on threes (2.92), Westmoreland, who shot a field-second 3.86 on fours, and Robinson, who tied for the high in pars (41). Robinson delivered 54 holes of consistent golf, sinking eight birdies against just four bogeys and a double.

Westmoreland's five-birdie, one-bogey final round was Union's lowest of the event. Campbell shot -3 and -2 in his final two rounds, and Robinson and Pinkston also carded a two-under-par day on Tuesday.

Union's 830 team score topped Delta State's 852, Trevecca's 855, Montevallo's 860, and an 870 total from Christian Brothers.

The Bulldogs have completed regular season play in the 2024-25 season and look ahead to the GSC Championships on April 17-19. The Division II South/Southeast Region Championships are set for May 8-10.
