BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University's Ivan Prug has been named the Gulf South Conference Men's Basketball Freshmen of the Week for the week ending December 11. This is Prug's first freshmen of the week award this season.
 
Prug, a 6-foot-8 forward from Igrane, Croatia, helped Union to a 2-0 record this week. Earlier in the week in the win over West Florida, Prug played nine minutes and had four points and two rebounds. His highlight game came from later in the week in the win over Valdosta State. He posted a career high 10 points in 25 minutes of play. In both games he averaged 7 points, grabbed three rebounds, had one block, and one steal.
 
Union prepares for the last homestand before holiday break. They will take on Montevallo Friday, December 16, and Auburn Montgomery Sunday December 18. Friday's game is set to take place at 7:30 p.m.
