Corieon Pearson was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2015 Coaches' Division II All-District Team. Pearson adds this honor to his first team honors in the Gulf South Conference and second honors on the Daktronics All-Region team.
Pearson, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Memphis, Tenn., helped Union to a NCAA Division II National Tournament berth in the first season of full NCAA membership since the 1968 season. Pearson led Union with 17.6 points per game and was also tops with 75 made 3-pointers and 120 assists. He added 3.2 rebounds per game and 41 steals. Pearson was second in the GSC in 3-point attempts (182), third in FG made (200), fourth in 3-pointers made (75), fifth in FG% (48.8), fifth in points per game (17.6) and fifth in total points (549).
He was also named Tennessee Sports Writers Player of the Week once and scored is 1,000
th career point at Union during his senior season.
Union (20-11) finished tied for fourth in the GSC regular season and advanced to the semifinals of the GSC Tournament before falling in overtime to the eventual champions. Union advanced to the national tournament, playing in the South Region in Lakeland, Fla. before falling to the No. 2 seed.
