NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Union University's AJ Roberts was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week after recording a double-double in the Bulldogs opening win of the season.

The Fresno, Calif., native posted 18 points and 11 rebounds and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field in Union's 86-70 season-opening victory against Central Baptist (Ark.) College. The junior guard was one of three players in double figures and also recorded two assists, one block and one steal. The Bulldogs play at Southeastern Oklahoma State and Henderson State (Ark.) in nonconference matchups this week.
